My Thoughts on Anthony's Perspective

The question on how we humans and our earth originated has been answerless for a long time. Many people have different ideas about this matter. For now, I will be sharing with you my thoughts on Anthony’s theory.

Anthony is a character in a short story my teacher gave us to read. The story is about the discussion of the origin of earth between a couple, Anthony and Helen, who overheard a radio speaker talk about how we humans are actually aliens. This is the theory I will discuss.

Anthony tried to provoke Helen by saying: “Some science fiction writers have postulated that we originated from elsewhere, our ancestors being a seed planted after a flight from a distant dying planet.” In other words, Anthony as well as some science fiction writers believe that we humans originated from aliens.

And it appears that Anthony is not the only one agreeing to this theory. Many people out there also believe the same thing. For example, a man on godlikeproductions.com questioned Charles Darwin’s theory that we humans evolved from apes. According to him, if we evolved from apes, why is it that we don’t have hair all over our body or the flexibility to climb trees like those of the chimps? To him there is only one possible conclusion: extra-terrestrials.

Although it seems like such an absurd thought, some scientists have actually found proof that life’s origin might have been aliens. A year ago in Antarctica, scientist have found some meteor samples on the ice sheet that can emit nitrogen-containing ammonia, which is a fundamental ingredient for the first self-replicating molecules that eventually led to DNA, according to an article posted in independent.com.

From the same website, I have seen a little “war” between commenters about this article. Apparently, most people who oppose this “humans are aliens” theory are those who are deep believer of God. Well, as said in ucg.org, the Bible does not speak of aliens like those from movies of science fiction novels. Instead it speaks of a Spirit Being who “inhabits eternity” (Isaiah 57:15).

As a Catholic, I would have to agree with the words written in the Bible. Not because I feel obliged to, but because I believe in God. And I believe that God is never wrong. What he wrote in the Bible is the truth, and that’s the only proof I need. Although there continues to be more mind-boggling discoveries about similarities between life on earth and in outer space, there is never any discovery significant enough to oppose the Bible.
