The word “perspective” can mean many different things. According
to Wikipedia, “perspective” can mean “an approximate representation, on a flat
surface (such as paper), of an image as it is seen by the eye” to an architect
or a graphic designer. But to a photographer or an artist, it could mean “the way in which objects appear to the eye based on their spatial attributes; or their dimensions and the position of the eye relative to the objects.” Although
in general these definitions are different, there are still similarities in
them. The words “eye” and “see” show us that “perspective” always has something
to do with the way we look at things.
When asked what “perspective” means to me, I
would say it is the way we perceive things through our eyes. I don’t literally
mean “looking” at things; I mean what we think of the world around us. What are
opinions and thoughts are- that’s “perspective” to me. As we all know, opinions
aren’t like facts. There is no definite answer when it comes to opinion-based
questions. Just like these questions, there is no right or wrong way to perceive
things. It all depends on our eyes to see it the way we want to see it. Having
a perspective is every human being’s right.
To me perspective comes right before freedom of
expression. People may or may not appreciate our thoughts, but it doesn’t matter.
Because, like I said, “perspective” is the way we perceive things through OUR
eyes, and as far as I know we can’t share our "eyes" with others. So why expect
them to "see" things the way we do?
